On The Hook: Book Review+Apology

On the hook is a beautiful book with an important message, the right ingredients to a perfect book. It has an open ending, I have a hate-love relationship with open endings in books. I have so much to say about this book, but I don’t know where to start, it’s that good.

My favourite character has to be Sanson. It’s so easy to conform to societal expectations of one’s physical appearance. Sanson is respectful, kind and vulnerable in the best way. I also definitely love Azi and Aurora.

The entire plot of the book, Hector’s internal turmoil and character development kept me guessing throughout the book.

While, I enjoyed the storyline, the characters and the entire book! The book felt rushed, I wish some characters were explored further. Azi’s life, Gloria’s life after …, there’s was so much more to the book that could have happened.

Trigger warnings

Brief mentions of:

  • Violence
  • Drugs
  • Swear words
  • Juvenile delinquency
  • Murder
  • Physical and sexual abuse

I am so sorry to coloured pages booktour for a delayed book review. I should have reached out, said something, I didn’t and I’m really sorry.
